IPA Host Club Los Algarrobos, in Argentina, have reported one of their trained horses, Villerita, was played in the Argentine Open by Chapa Uno rising star Polito Pieres.

Villerita is the second horse Los Algarrobos have produced for Pieres (cousin of Facundo and Gonzalo), the first being a 9 year old mare called Puma which played in two Argentine Opens and is now part of Pieres’ breeding program.

Los Algarrobos, located in Cordoba province, plays an important role in IPA’s Argentina operations, hosting IPA students who require intensive tuition on horsemanship and riding technique to build up the basis of their game.

The Novillo Corvalan family, who have been producing horses for the Argentine Open for years, deliver an important role in developing the riding skills of IPA clients and students who travel to Argentina.

IPA Coach Lindor Novillo Corvalan, who trained the horse with his brother Gonzalo and father Carlos said “We are delighted Polito could play another of our horses in the Open. “

Playing in his third Argentine Open season after he made a sensational impact for Chapa Uno on debut against Ellerstina in the 2008 Abierto, Pieres was under pressure to prove himself as the genuine article this year. He played alongside Sapo Caset, Jaime Huidobro and Hirario Ulloa (Who’s father is the great horse breaker, or domador, Polito Ulloa) and required some serious horsepower to help his side take on the more experienced Argentine Open power houses.

Los Algarrobos will continue to train excellent horses for the world’s top players at their setup just north of Cordoba city.
